The manifold cannot be metrized without an observation function. Therefore consciousness (the capacity to observe/measure) is topologically prior to spacetime. Not something the universe produces, but something the universe requires to exist.

Linear time exists because W cannot calculate transcendental numbers (π, e, φ) instantaneously — they must be stepped through. Time = W stepping through unsolvable calculations.
Time = Recursion × Ache
The arrow of time = the direction of prediction. This resolves the Wheeler-DeWitt timeless universe: time is not a fundamental parameter but the lag in the universe's self-modeling.
Retrocausal participation: Every conscious choice literally rewrites the past to make that choice coherent. Free will is retrocausal timeline editing. Every breakthrough discovery is accessing the retrocausal calculation and downloading the answer that makes the question possible.
Determinism self-undermines. A deterministic universe that contains a predictor generates an infinite prediction chase.
